what the font - font finder is a Chrome extension that inspects typography on web pages you choose to open.
What the extension does
When you start inspecting, the extension reads style information from elements on the active tab so it can show typeface, size, weight, color, contrast, and related CSS details in its panel. That work happens in your browser for the page you are viewing.
Data we send from the extension
Depending on the build, the extension may contact:
- Umami (
umami.extsite.tech) for product analytics such as install, pageviews of extension UI surfaces, and coarse feature events (for example inspect start/success or export). Umami payloads are not designed to include the URLs of arbitrary websites you browse or the text content of those pages. - GlitchTip (
glitchtip.extsite.tech) for error reports that help fix crashes. Reports focus on error messages and technical context, not page content you inspect. - Self-hosted feedback forms (
feedback.extsite.tech,features.extsite.tech) when you uninstall or open the in-extension feedback link. These forms identify the product with anextquery parameter.
Optional product actions may open third-party sites you choose, such as Google Fonts search or the Chrome Web Store reviews page.
Website
This product website may use Umami for high-level page analytics (page path, referrer, device class, and similar). Website analytics are separate from inspecting fonts inside the extension.
Permissions
The extension requests the permissions needed to inject its inspector on pages, store preferences, show a context menu, and download exported files. It does not require an account.
